Behavioral health services

The care we offer

We offer integrated behavioral health care: psychiatric medication management, psychotherapy, couples and family work, and specialty programs. Care is available in person and through secure telehealth, where clinically appropriate.

01

Psychotherapy

Individual therapy here is a sustained, structured relationship with a licensed clinician who understands your clinical picture and has the time to work with it. Sessions draw on evidence-based modalities matched to your specific concerns, and your therapist coordinates with the broader care team so that nothing gets lost between the therapy room and other parts of your treatment.

Our therapists are independently licensed (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, LPC, PsyD, or PhD) and matched to your care based on your goals and the modalities best suited to them. Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or biweekly to start.

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills
  • Psychodynamic and supportive psychotherapy
  • Trauma-focused care
  • Perinatal and postpartum-specific therapy

Couples & Family Care

Relational work at Palmetto Medical focuses on the dynamics that are keeping couples or families stuck, with a clinician who can hold the complexity of more than one person in the room at once. Sessions are structured, honest, and oriented toward the practical changes that make relationships feel livable again, without pretending that livable is always easy.

Relationships are part of behavioral health. Our couples and family clinicians are trained in evidence-based systemic and relational modalities, and care is delivered with the same evidence base as our individual treatment.

  • Couples therapy (Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Method-informed)
  • Family therapy for adults and adult-child family units
  • Parent guidance for adults navigating parenting under stress

Telehealth

Secure video appointments allow adults across South Carolina to access Palmetto Medical's full range of psychiatric and therapeutic services without the barrier of distance or schedule. The clinical experience over video is held to the same standard as an in-office visit, with the same clinician, the same preparation, and the same continuity of care.

Where clinically appropriate, both psychiatric care and psychotherapy are available through HIPAA-compliant telehealth. The same clinicians, the same care — delivered to wherever you can find a quiet, private space within your state of residence.

  • Telepsychiatry medication management
  • Teletherapy for psychotherapy and couples care
  • Secure, HIPAA-compliant platform
  • Equal-fee, in-network billing where your plan permits

Psychiatry & Medication Management

Psychiatric care at Palmetto Medical begins with a thorough diagnostic evaluation that takes your full history seriously, not just your most recent symptoms. Board-certified psychiatrists manage medication when appropriate, monitor response over time, and stay in close communication with your therapist so that prescribing decisions are never made in isolation from your therapeutic progress.

Our psychiatric care is delivered by physicians who completed an MD or DO, a four-year residency in psychiatry, and who hold board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Visits are scheduled at the frequency your care requires.

  • Diagnostic psychiatric evaluation
  • Ongoing psychiatric medication management
  • Coordination with primary care & specialty providers
  • Care for mood disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD, trauma, perinatal mental health, and major life transitions
  • Telehealth or in-person at your preference

Specialty Care

Palmetto Medical offers structured programs for adults navigating specific clinical presentations that benefit from a more focused approach. These programs layer psychiatric oversight, individual therapy, and psychoeducational support into a cohesive plan, designed for people whose needs call for more coordination than a single weekly appointment can provide.

Some conditions benefit from a clinician with focused training. Our specialty programs are organized around the diagnostic categories that present most often in adult outpatient behavioral health, staffed by clinicians with additional training in each area.

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Mood disorders
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Perinatal mental health
  • Workplace burnout
  • Life transitions
  • Grief and loss

Care begins with a conversation.

Most new patients are scheduled within 7–10 business days.
